Paradigm
Reference Seismic 10 Subwoofer
Here's a very solid subwoofer that sounds great - loud and deep with excellent articulation.

Here's some info on it:
The result of an intensive four-year research
and development program, Seismic™ subwoofers are radical new designs that
showcase groundbreaking patented and proprietary technology that dramatically
redefines the concept of high-end performance in subwoofers of this size.
Breathtaking, articulate deep bass with incredible detail, definition and
massive output … all contained in an implausibly compact, elegant and refined
design.
High-Excursion Bass Driver
Designed and manufactured by Paradigm, these highly advanced high-excursion
drivers with low-mass, high-stiffness cones are precision-engineered for
extremely high power and ultra-low levels of distortion. The tremendous
peak-to-peak cone excursion (over two inches in our Seismic™12) produces
incredibly deep bass response with equally incredible speed and power.
• High-Pressure Die-Cast Aluminum Chassis: Controls flexing and ringing, and
since aluminum is non-magnetic, stray magnetic losses are eliminated.
• AVS™ Airflow Ventilation Cooling System and Huge Heatsink Fins: Provide forced
air cooling during extended cone excursion and convection cooling at all other
times.
• Mineral-Filled Co-Polymer Polypropylene Cones with RCR™ Resonance Control
Ribs: Both sides of the cone are ribbed, providing superior stiffness with low
mass and excellent internal damping for tremendous freedom from unwanted
resonances and distortion.
• Dual Spiders and Dual Ultra-Long-Travel Suspensions: One progressive and one
linear, promote greater cone excursion while maintaining exacting control over
cone movement.
• Dual Balanced-Plane High-Velocity Passive Radiators: Provide extended bass
response with very low distortion. Solid, stable enclosures, unhampered by
vibrations or resonances, contribute to the clean and articulate bass
performance.
• Oversize 4+4-Layer High-Temperature Aluminum-Wire Voice Coil: Wound on a
high-temperature Apical™ former, with advanced high- temperature coating and
twin-layer bifilar configuration for greater stability and support during
extended cone excursion.
• Proprietary Voice Coil Wire Guide: Allows large-gauge wire connection directly
to the voice coil for unrestricted cone movement while eliminating the
possibility of “cone slapping” of lead-in wires in this high-excursion
application. Unique rigid wire guide cap stiffens the cone/voice coil interface.
• Massive Computer-Optimized Magnet Structures with Focused Field Geometry: 13
kg (29 lb) magnet structure on the Seismic™ 12 and 8.5 kg (19 lb) on the
Seismic™ 10 generate an enormous magnetic force field while minimizing
inductance distortion.
• Massive Vented Die-Cast Aluminum Center Heatsink: Provides internal forced-air
cooling to drive heat away from the high-velocity low-turbulence pole piece,
thereby increasing power handling and reducing distortion.
Seismic™ Ultra-Class-D™ Amplifier
• Super-Efficient Switching Amplifier: Over 90% efficiency, provides output of
1200 watts RMS, 4500 watts Peak.
• Novel Adaptive PWM Power Processor: Minimizes distortion and optimizes
efficiency. Conventional Class-D designs have very low power supply rejection.
Our Ultra-Class-D™ design inherently rejects power supply variations.
• No Power Transformer: The output stage is Direct-Connected™ to the power line
to provide maximum power.
• Opto-Coupled Inputs: Offer better isolation and lower noise.
• Advanced Output Stage: Increases switching speed and efficiency. Unlike
conventional Class-D designs, which use the slow built-in diodes of the output
MOSFETs, our Ultra-Class-D™ design steers circulating currents to ultra-fast
diodes (ten times faster).
• Proprietary Voice Coil Temperature Sensor: Should the voice coil overheat, the
amplifier output is reduced until the voice coil cools down.
• Amplifier Temperature Sensor: Maintains safe operating temperatures even under
extreme conditions.
• Short Circuit Protection: Reacts within 10µs.
Input Facilities
• Low-Level Input – RCA:
Allows connection from the RCA (S/E) Sub/LFE-Output of your
Preamplifier/Processor, A/V receiver or other suitable low-level source. If
connecting to a Stereo Preamplifier a Paradigm® X-30 subwoofer control unit is
required. (See your Dealer for more information.)
• Low-Level Input – Balanced XLR:
Allows connection from the Balanced XLR Sub/LFE Output of your
Preamplifier/Processor or other suitable low-level source. This input provides
the lowest noise and distortion possible and is particularly important for long
cable runs where noise and distortion could degrade performance.
Control Facilities
• Patented Auto On/Off:
Eliminates the need for a manually operated power switch. Turns the subwoofer on
whenever there is an input signal. If no signal is sensed after a period it
turns off.
• Trigger On/Off:
Allows the subwoofer’s power on/off to be controlled by components that have
trigger outputs (Preamp/Processor or A/V Receiver, etc.)
• Subwoofer Level Control:
Balances the subwoofer level with that of the other speakers in your system.
• Subwoofer Cut-Off:
Controls the subwoofer’s upper-frequency cut-off. This can be set to match the
low-frequency roll-off characteristics of your system’s speakers.
• Phase Alignment:
Accurately synchronizes your subwoofer and front speakers through their bass
frequency overlap region.
• Bass Contour:
Adjusts the contour of bass from flat (0.0 dB), the most accurate for music, or
up to +6.0 dB at 60 Hz for more bass impact with movies to best suit your
personal listening preferences.
New this unit sold for $1495. This consignment unit is on sale for just $750.
