As with any audio or video system, the source components set the limit at how good a system can sound or a video can look.   You can find Blu-ray and DVD players for peanuts these days.  Problem is that there are very good reasons why those products are so inexpensive they're made to be cheap.  They're designed to be minimum performance components with minimum features and build quality.  They use the cheapest parts available that are assembled in the cheapest way possible.  This is the trade-off.
